“Teens Of Denial” is an outstanding first proper album by Toledo’s Car Seat Headrest
“Teens Of Denial” is the outstanding first proper album by Virginia native Will Toledo after his excellent 2015 compilation “Teens Of Style” put him on the critical map. Toledo is being heralded as the savior of indie rock and with good reason. As a songwriter, Toledo captures what it’s like to be an awkward but thoughtful and intelligent man in his twenties in the modern era. His knack for melodies and ability to straight rock out bring to mind both Guided By Voices and Pavement. “Teens Of Denial” grabs you on first listen and doesn’t let go and has the makings of a future classic album. Highlights are abundant but start with lead cut “Fill In The Blank” and “Drunk Drivers / Killer Whales”.
